Alphabetic Index of Species

Know what species you are looking for? The species index is the quickest way to the information on the Nature of Dorset. Search the database and select the species.

This is an alphabetical index of all of the species in the Nature of Dorset database. If you know exactly what species you are looking for information about it is a quicker way of finding it than working through the 'top down' guide.

Both the common and scientific names have 'filters' at the top of the index and these act as a search tool. They work on a 'contains' basis where whatever characters you put in the box will be matched to records containing those characters (eg: entering kd will return jackdaw being the only species where those characters appear together in the common name). You can also filter the display into groups by clicking on the down arrow on the species group filter box and selecting from the list that appears. Do not forget to click on the 'Apply' button!

To see the full display for the species of your choice click on the common name (it is shown in blue) and the system will take you there.
