Chaffinch at Abbotsbury Gardens

Chaffinch at Abbotsbury Gardens

Supposedly Britain's most common bird, the chaffinch is often overlooked , although that's difficult if you hear him singing, which is generally in spring. In my garden we used to have lots of chaffinches and greenfinches but now both are quite rare visitors and when they do visited they are totally outnumbered and bullied by the hundreds of goldfinches that have appeared, as if from nowhere, in the last 5 years.
