House sparrow at Maiden Castle

The house sparrow is best differentiated from it's cousin the tree sparrow by its black bib which is lacking in the latter. Although, I wouldn't describe it as a "star" of the bird world, there's something about having a hedge full of sparrows nearby and being able to hear the continous (some would say monotonous) chirping coming from within it.
